Announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Independence Day 2025, the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) is a massive ₹1 lakh crore employment incentive scheme aimed at generating 3.5 crore new jobs between August 1, 2025, and July 31, 2027 – including 1.92 crore first-time job-seekers.
Who Benefits?
For First-Time Private-Sector Employees
- Eligibility: New job in the private sector, EPFO-registered, earning up to ₹1 lakh monthly.
- Incentive: ₹15,000 (one-month EPF wage) disbursed in two parts – after 6 months and 12 months respectively. Requires completion of a financial literacy course and continuous employment.
For Employers
Employers receive hiring incentives, including contributions towards EPF, designed to promote formal job creation and reduce turnover.
How to Apply
- Join an EPFO-registered establishment as a first-time private-sector employee.
- Ensure your gross monthly wage is ≤ ₹1 lakh.
- Complete a government-mandated financial literacy program.
- Stay employed for 6–12 months to receive two instalments of ₹7,500 each (total ₹15,000) via an Aadhaar-linked bank account.
- Employers must submit accurate ECRs (Electronic Challan cum Return) each month to ensure eligibility. Failure may disqualify both employee and employer.
New Startup & Entrepreneurship Schemes
India also launched several new initiatives to boost entrepreneurship and innovation across sectors:
- Startup India Empowerment: ₹916 crore approved under the Seed Fund Scheme, supporting 217 incubators to nurture startups through prototyping, mentorship, and commercialization.
- Atal Innovation Mission (AIM): Expansion of Atal Tinkering Labs in schools and Atal Incubation Centres at higher education institutes to foster youth innovation and startup growth.
- Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS): Offers 10 million internships over five years in top companies across industries, bridging education and employability.
- PM Vishwakarma Scheme: Supports artisans with training, e-vouchers for tools, daily stipends, and collateral-free loans to boost traditional livelihoods.
- Namo Drone Didi Scheme: Empowers women in agriculture by training them in drone operations. Over ₹1,200 crore allocated to equip women self-help groups as drone operators.
- PM-DevINE: Targets infrastructure and livelihood development in North East India with budget support, enhancing entrepreneurship and social welfare.
