PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana: A Boon for India’s Youth Jobs Market

Announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Independence Day 2025, the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) is a massive ₹1 lakh crore employment incentive scheme aimed at generating 3.5 crore new jobs between August 1, 2025, and July 31, 2027 – including 1.92 crore first-time job-seekers.

Who Benefits?

For First-Time Private-Sector Employees

  • Eligibility: New job in the private sector, EPFO-registered, earning up to ₹1 lakh monthly.
  • Incentive: ₹15,000 (one-month EPF wage) disbursed in two parts – after 6 months and 12 months respectively. Requires completion of a financial literacy course and continuous employment.

For Employers

Employers receive hiring incentives, including contributions towards EPF, designed to promote formal job creation and reduce turnover.

How to Apply

  1. Join an EPFO-registered establishment as a first-time private-sector employee.
  2. Ensure your gross monthly wage is ≤ ₹1 lakh.
  3. Complete a government-mandated financial literacy program.
  4. Stay employed for 6–12 months to receive two instalments of ₹7,500 each (total ₹15,000) via an Aadhaar-linked bank account.
  5. Employers must submit accurate ECRs (Electronic Challan cum Return) each month to ensure eligibility. Failure may disqualify both employee and employer.

New Startup & Entrepreneurship Schemes

India also launched several new initiatives to boost entrepreneurship and innovation across sectors:

  1. Startup India Empowerment: ₹916 crore approved under the Seed Fund Scheme, supporting 217 incubators to nurture startups through prototyping, mentorship, and commercialization.
  2. Atal Innovation Mission (AIM): Expansion of Atal Tinkering Labs in schools and Atal Incubation Centres at higher education institutes to foster youth innovation and startup growth.
  3. Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS): Offers 10 million internships over five years in top companies across industries, bridging education and employability.
  4. PM Vishwakarma Scheme: Supports artisans with training, e-vouchers for tools, daily stipends, and collateral-free loans to boost traditional livelihoods.
  5. Namo Drone Didi Scheme: Empowers women in agriculture by training them in drone operations. Over ₹1,200 crore allocated to equip women self-help groups as drone operators.
  6. PM-DevINE: Targets infrastructure and livelihood development in North East India with budget support, enhancing entrepreneurship and social welfare.

Why This Matters

  1. Youth Empowerment: PM-VBRY provides crucial support to young professionals entering the workforce.
  2. Startup Acceleration: Seed funding and incubation support help turn ideas into viable businesses.
  3. Skills & Internships: AIM and PMIS bridge academic learning with real-world experience.
  4. Inclusivity: Schemes like PM Vishwakarma and Drone Didi uplift marginalized artisans and women, promoting gender and regional equity.

The PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana marks a major step toward a robust job economy, while complementary startup and skill-based schemes show that India is nurturing a holistic model of employment, innovation, and empowerment.

Whether you’re a fresh graduate, entrepreneur, artisan, or aspiring intern, opportunities are now more accessible than ever.
